Antares Restaurant Review

Albox
Below the Banco Andalucia, Albox
Tel 696 320 576

Restaurant Antares is a recently opened restaurant in Albox and can be found just under the bridge, by the Bank of Andalucia. The food here is quite different in as much as it has a Mexican influence. There is a bar area with nice comfy sofa’s, where you can have a drink whilst browsing through the menu, which is exactly what we did when we went there recently with two friends. The décor is nice and the restaurant very clean.
The menu is not massive but has a good choice of dishes, which for starters include Guacamole Stuffed Tomatoes, Luxury Prawn Salad and Pan Fried Sardines. Main courses start at €6.50 for Saucy Meat Balls, Hamburger €6.95 and €15 for an Entrecote Steak with Prawns. After some studying of the menu we decided what we would like. My partner chose the Sardines at €4.50, my friend’s husband decided on the Stuffed Tomato at €4.50 and my friend and I could not resist the Nachos at €4.50. For the main course everyone chose something different. My partner, the Entrecote Steak, my friend, the Fajita wrap which can be had with a choice of filling of either beef or chicken and it is priced at €7.95. My friend’s husband chose the Tex Mex at €14.50 and myself the White Fish cooked in garlic at €8.50.With this, we ordered a couple of bottles of the red house wine prices at €7 per bottle. We ordered at our table in the bar and were brought a bowl of the most delicious olives and some tacos to nibble on whilst we waited for our food.
The starters arrived, were nicely presented and piping hot. The Nachos were delicious, served with sour cream and guacamole and everything else was equally as good. We all felt that the house wine at €7 was excellent and exceptionally good value for money. Starter portions are very generous without being so large as to fill you up before the main course. The main course was just as good as the starter .My partner asked for his steak to be medium and it was cooked to perfection .The Tex Mex was massive, the meat was moist and just fell off the bone and the Fish in Garlic was lovely. All dishes were served with vegetables and either potatoes or rice. The desert menu is small which was just as well as we were all really full but decided to have two deserts to share between the four of us and ordered the Lemon and Lime Cheesecake at € 4.25 and the Banoffee pie at €4.25. Both deserts were delicious.
We rounded off the meal with coffees and the total bill came to €112.We all thought that this was very good value for money and would definitely be going back.
The staff are polite and friendly and if you fancy a meal that is good value for money and different, then Antares is certainly worth a visit.

Antares is having a Christmas Eve and New Year´s Eve Menu. It is a set of four full courses and both are priced at €35. For bookings please call Steve on 696 320 576.
